Ghost Town by Callum Parsons
Callum Parsons’ ‘Ghost Town’ traces Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington between 2020 and 2025 – an unstable period marked by a pandemic, post-earthquake rebuilds, economic strain and public sector job cuts. The city appears suspended in eerie moments of stillness: empty streets, abandoned lots and liminal spaces. This is not only a portrait of decline, but of transition – a city caught between what was and what might be, where a quiet optimism still persists beneath the uncertainty.
